Baby chicks/yard chickens
Okay so we have chickens and the boys have been trying to get some chicks hatched by the natural way(getting the momma todo it) and also with a incubator. Well finally they went to the chicken pen today and found chicks in the coop. MY husband knows about raising chicks but I would like some suggestions , tips in doing this. Those of you that have yard chickens/chickens in a pen do you worm your chickens??? Do you give them vitamins?? What do you give the chicks for them to say healthy and strong??

Believe it or not, I raised chickens for awhile and loved it. You have to buy them that starter mash and mix it with water for the first several weeks (maybe 6) then you move them up to the kind that is called (scratch, I think) your hubby or local feed store can tell you. I never did anything for them as far as vitamins or medicines go, I guess I was totally organic before I knew what that was. Make sure you lock them up every night when they start venturing out into the yard, becasue they drew foxes, opossums, owls, and coyotes out of the woodwork, and I went from 14 to 4 in 2 years. Have fun!
I have no advice but I just have to say this...
THEY ARE SOOOOO CUTE!!
WEll I am letting dh take over things now. He raised chickens when he was younger . Thanks ladies
Dear Tiffany,
Sorry it took a little time to get back with you. The book is actually entitled "The Dangerous Book For Boys".
Love,
