Homeschool curriculum

Okay I am already thinking about next year. Just have to so I can be organized. Anyway, i am thinking of using Christian Liberty but just not sure. Also for those of you that have been homeschooling longer than I do you use accrediated curriculum, if you don';t and plan to when are you going to start??? Is there any need for a child to use a accrediated curriculum if they plan on going to a tech school???? What curriculum do you use??? You would think I was just starting out, I get like this a few times every year worrying if I am doing it right and if when they get older something I did or didn't do will come back to haunt them lol. Hope I am not the only one who goes through that. Anyway and responses,help,etc.. would be greatly appreciated. I looked at My Father's World and the Sonlight curriculum's but they were a little confusing on how to figure out what it included and I could find no pricing. Anyway any help is appreciated

when my kids were younger I used My Fathers World and I loved it. However it was not conducive for multiple grades, I found it difficult to use for my non readers. I now use a hodge podge of things. I personally try to stay away from one particular company and just pick my favorite of every subject. The Story of the World is what i use for history. Spellingtime.com for spelling, La CLase Divertida for spanish, Saxon Math, A Reason for Handwriting and nothing yet for grammar. That is on my agenda for the upcoming HS conference.

So you don;t do accrediated stuff???

I guess not? I never even heard of that as far as curriculum goes. When I visit all the vendor booths at the HS conference, I don't ever recall that they tote that as one of the selling features, at least not elementary. Ask Tonya or your Sis, they might have a clue.

I LOVE Christian Liberty stuff. I am thinking about buying a lot of it this year. My favorites, that I have used for 5 years now, are the nature readers. I have all but the Kindergarten one and I think I may buy that one for Solomon this year.

Hey Tiff, I would not worry with the accreditation but, I was thinking that you might want to pick what is the easiest curriculum for YOU this year since the baby will be coming right in the middle of everything. If it was easier for you with the Christian Liberty stuff (may not the accredited route but the other one) , and you did not worry about it as much I WOULD CERTAINLY do it this year for sure.

We use MFW with as many Sonlight readers as I can squeeze in. I too found MFW a bit confusing in the beginning but I believe it is a great curriculum and the office staff is incredibly helpful. When you call you will likely speak to the owner, David Hazell, his children or Steve. The company is wonderful to work with and they will take the time to explain everything 100 times if that is what is necessary. We have friends who use CL and they LOVE it :) I'm not so sure it matters much what you choose. Pick something you like and be flexible. Either way your kiddos are blessed because YOU are there with them and they aren't being educated by their "peers". Hope you find what works for you and don't be overwhelmed - there's so many great options to choose from. Further, most people switch many times over the years. Homeschooling isn't an exact science :)
